I have already informed Your Lordship that Mr. Charles de la Fount is the Acting French Consul in this Colony. One P. Carrique is reported to be a Frenchman, the Captain of a Merchant Vessel which has left this Port for Manila.
Jose-Rodriguez Trujillo, White, and Maule Ginard are, I understand, Officers on board a Spanish Man-of-War, the "Marques de la Victoria" now repairing in this harbour.

Yesterday the case of those implicated came on for hearing before the First Police Magistrate, when the Crown Solicitor, under instructions from the Acting Attorney General, withdrew the charge against Mr. Charles de la Fount, and he was placed under a rule of bail to keep the peace for six months. The case was then adjourned until the 18th Instant.
I enclose the newspaper account of the proceedings in the Police Court.
